Warm greetings and blessings to you, dear Friend!
May we be CONTENT with what we have,
and REJOICE in the way things are.
THIS MONTH’S TOPIC
(In video format! Please click here.)
As mentioned in the video above:
BRR!!! Here in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, it’s the coldest it’s been in the 29 years that I’ve lived here – well below freezing, with a LOT of snow!
I hope that you’re cozy and warm wherever YOU are… And, if you’re in the southern hemisphere, I hope that you’re enjoying MUCH more pleasant weather than I am! 🙂
Here we are, in the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day – a time to rest, to ponder the year that was and the year to come.
What a year we’ve had! Challenges of ALL kinds: several COVID “waves”, climate change-related extreme weather…
This month, I’ve been exploring the Power of LIFE, the last of the 12 Powers created by Charles Fillmore (the founder of Unity Church). I’m always looking for quotes that will inspire the creation of my weekly chants, and this month, the quotes that most resonated with me were from different religious/spiritual traditions: Christianity/New Thought, Buddhism, Judaism, and Taoism.
What feels most timely for me to share with you this month is the chant based on the Taoist quote (from Lao Tzu). Here’s the quote: “Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.” WOW. How can we truly resonate with that thinking in this challenging time?
To “nudge” us all in that direction, I created a chant called “I’m Content And I Rejoice”. The words are very close to Lao Tzu’s quote, with an important difference: I changed the pronoun to 1st person singular, so that each of us could affirm the words as we sing the chant. I also added an affirmation at the end, to help the affirmation “land” a bit more fully. Here are the words to “I’m Content And I Rejoice”:
I’m content with what I have
I rejoice in the way things are
I now realize there is nothing lacking
The whole world belongs to me
And so it is
And, as always…
You can listen to my songs and chants here and here.
You can find the words to my songs and chants here.
You can buy my CDs here.
The chant begins at 3:02 in this month’s video (above). May it serve you well!
My overall theme for 2021 has been SURRENDER – a fitting word to deepen my commitment to 2020’s theme, FREEDOM (inspired by walking the Camino in Spain in late 2019). In my desire to live more in the present, the word/theme that’s most resonating in me for 2022 is SIMPLICITY.
How about YOU, dear Friend? What’s most resonating in YOU this month, and what will YOUR word/theme for 2022 be? WHEREVER you are on your journey, I’d love to hear from you, and I welcome any and all suggestions for future Morning Musings or whatever else you’d like to share. Please e-mail me; we’re all in this together, and we have much to learn from each other. (THANKS for being a part of my journey, and SPECIAL THANKS to all of the kind souls who respond to my newsletters; reading your comments is always a highlight of my month.)
